They have performed for a Cambodian King

Bohemia Ballet - company of Prague Dance Conservatory is entering a new era with promising success from last season. Although that company is supported with only small financial resources, managed to popularize many forms of Czech and foreign ballet styles.  In the season 2008-2009, Bohemia Ballet members performed not only in Prague, Brno Louny, Usti nad Labem, Kolin and many others Czech cities, but also in abroad.
In places like: Russia's Volgograd, Alcobaça Portuguese, Slovak Nitra, Poznan, Poland, China Xian, Cali, Colombia and Cambodia in Phnom Penh. Dance Conservatory of Prague participated in international ballet competitions in Valenciennes (France Carpeaux- Prix), Szczecin (Poland) an international meeting ballet school in Budapest (Hungary) and exchange visits with students of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hag(Netherlands).
Bohemia Ballet has a rich repertoire of high performance standard.

 

The image of Bohemia Ballet makes: choreographer Jiří Kylián (Evening Songs, Songs of a Wayfarer), Pavel Smok (Music Slovaks Sinfonietta), Serge Lifar (Suite en Blanc) and other authors (Petr Zuska, Tomas Rychetský, David Stransky), including classical ballet and folk dance - Czech Skočná, Valašské games, Slovak Zbojnický and many others...


Lucie Rakosnikova and Michal Krcmar from Bohemia Ballet participated three concerts in Cambodia. One performance was in  unique complex of palaces Prasat cows in Angkor Wat and two others at the theater Chaktomuk in Phnom Penh which one show was presented for the King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni as gift to his birthday. Lucie and Michal danced each time same repertoire: Classical pas de deux of Medora and Ali (the slave) from ballet Le Corsaire, Songs of a Wayfarer (by Jiri Kylian) and Czech folk polka Skočná.

It is generally known that His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni graduated Dance conservatory of Capital city Prague. In the years 1962-1975 he studied in Prague. First at the Prague Dance Conservatory and then at the dance department of AMU (Academy of musical art); After returning home, he developed the concept of art education in Cambodia. Less so, however, in our country knows that the Cambodian royal ballet are among the ninety intangible treasures, declared Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity listed by UNESCO.
